Moon Days& Sutra Talk24 Sep 2007 08:35 am

Hi all,

It is great to be back and see all your faces in class again!

This upcoming Wednesday the 26th is a moonday so there will be no Mysore class. We’ve decided to not meet with the Sutra group anymore on moondays but instead meet every other Sunday at our place on Oak Street. We’ll start this upcoming Sunday, September 30 right after class.

Thanks, Heleen

Friends,

I will be teaching a weekend workshop in conjunction with Perfect Balance Yoga of Fresno
the weekend of October 26 to 28. We will be at the Montecito Lake Resort.

Here is the information from Perfect Balance’s website:

“Join us as we travel up to Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park for a weekend of yoga,
hiking, meditation and an Auyurveda workshop. Great accommodations, vegetarian meals
available and good company! Mark your calandars for October 26-28th.

John Berlinsky will lead 3 yoga workshops, Giovanni Pivirotto will guide us on a fabulous
hike and a trip to the Big Trees. Monika joshi is teaching an Auyurveda workshop and
Joanne Bazarian will lead us in a meditation session. Don’t miss this great weekend!”

I will be teaching a Friday evening meditation/pranayama/philosophy session and a
Saturday/Sunday morning led Ashtanga class. I’m very excited to join Giovanni,, Monika
and Joanne in this varied weekend. The tone of the weekend will be very relaxed, as
opposed to an “intensive.” The location is beautiful and it is our intention to really “retreat”
from daily life and work and enjoy the quiet of the park and trees, with the assistance of
practice, of course!

The Montecito Lake Resort is around 4 hours drive from Marin. The charge for the
weekend is a very reasonable $310. This includes all meals, classes and shared
accommodations. There are private rooms and cabins available for an additional charge.

If you would like more information or to register, contact Perfect Balance Yoga at:

www.pbyoga.com or call them at 559-222-6212

The Montecito Lake Resort website is: www.mslodge.com Here is a blurb from their site:

Montecito Lake Resort is located high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Sequoia National
Forest. Nestled beside a small private lake, the resort is surrounded by the grandeur of
Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the
Great Western Divide, and only minutes away from the fabled Giant Sequoia groves,
Montecito Lake Resort is a unique treasure. Forget your daily cares as you enjoy the wide
range of activities we offer, or just kick back and relax. Come let our friendly staff create a
perfect California escape for you at Montecito Lake Resort!

I hope you will be able to join us for this special weekend!

Folks, there is a new chinese vegetarian restaurant at the corner of El Camino and Bernardo. It is called Vegi Garden. The postal address is 653 S. Bernardo Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94087. I have been there a couple of times and liked their food. They serve Dim Sum every day! They also have a very extensive menu. Lunch specials are $6.99 and include soup, salad and egg rolls. It’s a great value. During my visits there, I found many chinese people frequenting the restaurant, always a good sign. The restaurant looks clean, the service is good and I think it is worth a try.

I came across seven discourses on the Yoga Sutra by Swami Sridharanda on You tube. I have enjoyed it a lot and thought I would share this information with others, especially those who are engaged in the Sutra discussions at YIY. The link to the first discourse is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjWVv5ZKf5I. Alternately, you can go to Youtube and do a search for Yoga Sutras. Swami Sridharanda is part of the Vedanta society and is based in Sydney, Australia. These talks are available for purchase as CD’s or DVD’s. Perhaps YIY can consider having them as a yoga resource?
