Announcements& Workshops23 Oct 2006 01:52 pm

Just wanted to put another blurb on your screen, if you haven’t
noticed yet at the studio, that we are raising money for St.Jude
Children’s Hospital
this month through November 11. Adarsh will teach
a workshop to finish it off, by donation, on November 11, 2-4:30pm.

If you are a parent, I am sure I don’t have to convince you that your
child is the most precious, the only thing that matters (well,
besides your partner). And if you are not a parent, I know you have a
big enough heart to understand. What can be better than helping to
save lifes of those kids. I couldn’t find a better cause. I really
appreciate you contributions, if you can.

Thank you.

Kannondo Zen Center just moved to a beautiful new location at 1972 Rock Street, Mountain View, about 2 miles from YiY.

This morning was the first sitting at the new location at 5:30, which was a wonderful thing to do before coming to practice at YiY. There is a sitting every morning at 5:30 apart from Sundays.

I’ve been going to Kannondo since 1999 and I find Zen meditation to be the “ashtanga” of meditation - just do your practice and all is coming.

If you are interested in learning more, every Wednesday there is a beginners’ introduction followed by a lecture and tea. It is very civilized and friendly.

Hi all,

I went to Copenhagen a few weeks ago to study with
Lino. He was teaching Mysore for 5 days, plus having a
question/answer session the last day. I was there days
2-5 and missed the Q&A.

Pics from the trip are on

Here is part of an email from Jens. He and Susanna run
the shala:

the workshop lasted 5 days and we were in average 50
in the class per days in two groups. The first
starting at 6.00, 6.15 and 6.30 being almost 28 people
and the second group starting 7.15 and 7.30 being
around 25 people. Very intensive and everybody were
sweating. The energy here in the school is good and
for the regular students it is a boost to continue the
morning practice. We feel very lucky to have Lino here
as our main teacher.

Regarding what Jens wrote about the intensity, I
couldn’t agree more. My practice was deeper than it
ever had been. The elements of Lino’s teaching, the
heat (normally I don’t need a towel, but I did that
week), and the high level and sincerity of the
practitioners may all have contributed to that.

Also, I really enjoyed the “Bear in Mind…” section of the shala’s website:

http://www.astanga.dk/english/bearinmind.asp

It refers to questions or points that I, and many others, have had over the course of time.

Take care,

Lori

The headstand and tower look straight. Maybe the great lawn is sloping.
