Laurel’s son Lucian Goff will display his cut glass work at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival Saturday-Sunday Sept. 9-10. Laurel says his work is most amazing. She would greatly appreciate if her yoga friends would stop by his booth, see his work and say hello to him.

Namaste, Ashtangis -
In case you weren’t aware, we have a fantastic teacher coming
back to YiY. Mark Horner has been my teacher for 13 years,
and I’m always learning something new. He has a strong
background in both Iyengar and Ashtanga, as well as being one of
the senior students of Shandor Remete, founder of Shadow-style.

He’s teaching “How to Grow a Lotus” - working up to Padmasana -
on Saturday, Sept 23rd, from 2:30-5pm. Since lotus and half lotus
are such a big part of Ashtanga practice, I think you would benefit
tremendously! Not only will he be teaching different ways to open
the hips, but you’ll learn the marma points (like acupressure points)
in the feet, legs, and pelvis that directly effect hip-opening. Here’s
the link for more information:
http://www.yogaisyouth.com/community/workshops/06lotus.html

Mark is a very detailed and skilled teacher and practitioner of
yoga. You will learn much from this workshop.

There is a discount if you register by Sept 9th - $45 instead of $50.
Please consider registering early! I will see you there.

I am also missing being in Mysore in the mornings. My daughter’s
preschool schedule has made it difficult to come! :( Blessings,
Connie

Hi all,
Before the summer is out, we wanted to invite you all to come and swim/hang out in our yard so we’ve decided to do it this Sunday (Sept. 3rd) after practice - we were thinking something like 11:30 - 5:30 pm or so. The weather shld be nice and warm enough for a swim (we also have a small hot-tub that we’ll fire up for those who prefer warmer waters..) We’ll have some food and if I can fix my grill before Sunday, then we can also to a veggie grill- feel free to come with friends/family/kids and with/without food - we always have enough food so please just come as you feel comfortable.

Mission Peak, an excellent hiking space is just about 2 miles from our house so those inclined to doing a short hike up to see some great views (you don’t have to go all the way to the top to see nice views,) can head over there after the swim (it’s usually a nice place to hike around 6:00 pm as there’s very little shade during the day.)

Our address is 320 Tonopah Drive, Fremont, CA 94539. My cell is (510) 366-8136.

Looking forward to hanging out with you all on Sunday.
Dipita

Hello all,

A month has passed already since our start at YIY. We are slowly adjusting to the new surroundings and after having spent the first few weeks in Laurels wonderful home (bless you Laurel!) we have now moved into our own place (we’ll have you all over soon).

With us and our teaching-style being new to you, we would love to hear your feedback on how things are going. Any questions or comments are appreciated (doesn’t all have to be rosy).

For our part we want to thank you all for making us feel welcome and being willing to adjust to new circumstances.

We look forward to seeing you on the mat,

Heleen & Adarsh
