June 2006

Okay, I’ve been doing primary series a fairly long time now and I’ve always loved it but something about this past month has made me a full-fledged, 6 days-a-week kind of addict. The symptoms seem to include eagerness to go to bed early, getting up at 5:30 without an alarm, and a sense of incompleteness on days without class.

I must admit I had my doubts that my practice would continue when I moved here from the east coast 3 years ago. YIY was the only studio I found in the south bay offering traditional astanga and when I showed up to a class (there were only a couple a week then) it was only a handful of people (one being Dave). So I was a little worried about my astanga future since I’m not exactly a disciplined home practioner.

But YIY has really created an excellent shala over the last few years and it’s been a pleasure being here to see it expand and flourish. The teachers/workshops and the mysore program are truly outstanding, not to mention the mysore community itself. I look forward to seeing my yoga family every day and am excited almost as much by everyone else’s progress as my own (although the day I get Pasasana or do drop-backs on my own, watch out, there will be either tears or cartwheels I’m not sure which yet).

So I just wanted to say a big thank you to David and Youngblood for rekindling and feeding my addiction over this past month and an even bigger thanks to everyone involved at YIY (past and present) for what they’ve created and for their continued support of our mysore community. My, how we have grown. May your breath be full and your heart always open…

Hi all,
This was the group photo we took at the “goodbye dinner for David Roche and Youngblood.” I’ve had a wonderful time and learnt a lot these last few weeks from both David and Youngblood and it seemed like a lot of people at the party felt the same. Thank you David and Youngblood.

Namaste,
Dipita

UPDATE:

Laptop AND printer FOUND! Thanks to Christina and Mike Falco!
Thanks to my yoga friends for helping out…Laurel

Hi Yoga Friends,

I am looking for a laptop that anyone does not use anymore and would like to unload, donate (or sell cheap) to a school mate of mine that is graduating from DeAnza and going off to Cal State Long Beach in the Fall.

He is 23, lives with a cousin, works long hours at a Home Depot, is on the basketball team here, and wants to go into Industrial Design. Working with him on our final project today on my laptop, I found out he has no computer. Michael is so bright, really kind we’ve both helped each other a lot this quarter. This Stats class has been a hurdle for him to be able to transfer to a CSU and he’s worked hard at it.

I’d love to see him do well in college and I think he will but it’d be so cool for him to have a laptop to go off to college with. You can email me at redleafive@yahoo.com
